Academia 2.0. Does collaboration fit the academic mold?

The stated goal of the MediaCommons is to remain in a perpetual state of development; by hosting a blog, video content, and other forms of media, they hope to foster ongoing critiques and analysis of their content using an online comment system. By analyzing which of their efforts successfully develop interactive online communities and further media studies, they hope to return academics to the time when scholarship involved a “circulation of discourse.
